I Sing the Salmon Home<\/span><\/i> is a new collection of poetry from Pacific Northwest poets, gathered by Washington State Poet Laureate and Lummi tribal member Rena Priest. The poems are all inspired by the Northwest\u2019s iconic, beloved salmon, and were written by poets ranging from first graders to tribal elders.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To celebrate the book\u2019s launch, join Rena and other poets featured in the anthology at in-person events in Seattle on April 8 and Olympia on April 10.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The anthology honors the salmon\u2019s heroic journey, and its beauty, courage, and generosity. But it also bears witness to the threats salmon face from pollution, dams, and warming oceans. \u201cIt is my hope that the poems in this collection,\u201d says Rena in the preface, \u201cwill carry into the hearts of readers a wish to preserve and protect the gifts of salmon bestowed by a beautiful living earth . . . May their good work continue to sing the salmon home.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
