Her qualitative research focuses on poverty and inequality, mainly in the rural Northwest. She is the author of two books, 2009\u2019s <em>Those Who Work, Those Who Don\u2019t: Poverty, Morality, and Family in Rural America<\/em>, and 2021\u2019s\u00a0<em>Dividing Paradise: Rural Inequality and the Diminishing American Dream<\/em> (2021). She also co-edited the 2017 volume,\u00a0<em>Rural Poverty in the United States<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Sherman lives in Moscow, Idaho.<\/p>\n<p><em><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(90, 89, 88)\" data-ogsb=\"rgb(249, 238, 226)\">This talk is presented in partnership with\u00a0<\/span><\/em><strong><i><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(90, 89, 88)\" data-ogsb=\"rgb(249, 238, 226)\">The Thomas S.
