His translation of the <em>Kural<\/em> was awarded the Ancient Tamil Literature Promotion Award by the government of Tamil Nadu, India. Other books include <em>The Safety of Edges<\/em> and <em>Give, Eat, and Live: Poems of Avvaiyar<\/em>.
